The Clark Magnet High School Marine Research class operates out of La Crescenta, California. The class researches environmental issues in and around their local area. Some projects include the swift-water danger posed by the Los Angeles River, the levels of CAM-17 metals in the Los Angeles Harbor, and designing and building remotely operated vehicles (ROVs). The major benefactor to the class was a competitive technologies grant received in conjunction with Glendale Community College. This grant money paid for the several boat trips the class took on the RV Yellowfin, the replacement of several broken GPS units, and for our school to rejoin EAST Initiative this year.
